The National Silent Witness Initiative invites you to honor Sheila Wellstone and her tremendous work in reducing domestic violence in our country. She was killed in a plane crash with her husband, Senator Paul Wellstone (D-MN), in October 2002. Remember Sheila by creating a hand-crocheted or knitted shawl, scarf, hat, mittens, slippers, lap robes, or children's toys to be donated to the women's crisis centers in the Pittsburgh area.

We hope these hand-made items will make women and children feel the warmth and love from those people who made them. We encourage everyone to become involved in this important project.

Since many people make hand knitted and crocheted items in their own way, there is a great deal of variation but there is no one right way.
