Thanks to the vision and generosity of Bessie Anathan, a former member of NCJW and community leader, Anathan House, 1620 Murray Ave., has been our home since 1963—more than 40 years! The building has an interesting and eclectic background, including being used as a school and a Jewish house of study before The Anathan Foundation bought it in 1962. Community In addition to NCJW's activities, which bring people of all ages from many areas to Anathan House, countless people use the facility through the programs and services offered by other tenants in the building. These include:
Anathan House Campaign Anathan House is 90 years old. Its extensive use has created a need to update its infrastructure, meet current space needs, meet government codes including ADA compliance, and install an up-to-date information technology infrastructure. The renovation project is expected to cost well over $1 million. To enable the organization to provide ongoing building maintenance, an additional amount will be sought for an endowment fund, bringing the Campaign goal to almost $2 million. The entire NCJW membership, foundations and corporations, all of whom have never been solicited for an NCJW capital campaign, are getting the message: The first capital campaign in the long history of NCJW, Pittsburgh Section, has been launched. The Campaign steering committee and cabinet are in place, and to date, approximately $800,000 in gifts and pledges has been raised. Named Giving Opportunities The names of all donors giving $3,000 or more will be listed in an attractive, appropriate, permanent location in Anathan House. Click below to pay online.
All gifts are payable over 3 years. Contributions of any amount will be greatly appreciated. Square Foot Project Anathan House encompasses approximately 10,000 square feet of usable space. A contribution of $75 will support one square foot of the renovation. You may also support: (Click below to pay online.) This is a wonderful way to give a special gift to a friend or family member in honor of a special occasion or holiday. An attractive certificate will be issued for a minimum of 4 square feet!
