NCJW Pittsburgh Section Projects: Book Drive

Every time a child visits a Children's Playroom, he or she receives an age-appropriate book to take home and keep.

For some children, this will be their first book to call their own.

NCJW works all year to find, collect, and distribute new or very gently used infant and children's books for this important project. We also maintain a well-stocked reading corner in each Playroom, helping to promote early literacy.

Last April, NCJW and READ 365, a project of Beginning with Books, participated in the Court's celebration of the Month of the Young Child. We collected 3,000 new and used books. Our goal is 5,000 books this year.

Collection bins will be in each Playroom, in the rotunda of the Family Law Center, and in about a dozen elementary and preschools throughout Pittsburgh in April.

We also accept donations of new and very gently used infant and children's book year round at Anathan House and at our annual Thriftique.
