NCJW is pleased to announce a class of fifteen participants for our 2013–2014 Leadership Development Program (LDP). The program is designed to provide the next generation of leadership with a strong overview of NCJW and an opportunity to get to know one another, engage with NCJW, and develop leadership skills.
Class participants are Lauren Bartholomae, Judy Bernstein, Sara Blask, Bear Brandegee, Rachel Colker, Lori Goldstein, Lisa Hackam, Teddi Horvitz, Carolyn Jensen, Melissa Pearlman, Jennie Pelled, Samantha Rothaus, Sheila Solomon, Katie Whitlatch, and Lynda Wrenn.
In each session I will include tips and tools for effective leadership. The class has completed two of seven sessions. The first session was held on October 22 at Anathan House. LDP Co-Chairs Beverly Block and Jacki Herzog welcomed the group; IPP Hilary Spatz provided an overview and brief history of NCJW; and I led the work personality style assessment. Also attending were President Paula Garret, Executive Director Andrea Glickman, and board members Lynette Lederman and Roxanne Wolk.
The second session was held at NCJW’s Thriftique. Social Enterprise Committee Chair Bear Brandegee presented an overview of the SEC’s work; Lynn Tomasits, Director of Retail Operations, provided a history of NCJW’s retail community outreach programs; and Jenny Jones, Chair of Community Service, interviewed Towanda Duckett. Towanda’s employment with NCJW’s Thriftique began with her participation in the Howard Levin Clubhouse’s Transitional Employee Program. Towanda’s story is a perfect example of the positive results NCJW strives to achieve.
The next sessions include the Children’s Rooms in the Courts; advocacy and governance with Councilwoman Natalia Rudiak; and an introduction to NCJW’s Board and the Center for Women.
We know that participation in the LDP program will positively impact these NCJW members and in turn strengthen our organization. Be sure to meet the LDP graduates at our annual meeting in May. To participate in next year’s class, call me at 412-421-6118 or email me at email@example.com.
