Happy Holidays from your friends at NCJW Pittsburgh Section! As you will learn from reading the various articles in this newsletter, we have had a very busy fall at NCJW. Between Designer Days, the weekly programs held at the Center for Women, cultivating future leaders through our Leadership Development Program, and operating our retail stores and Children’s Rooms in the Courts, NCJW’s staff and volunteers have been working hard to further our mission of serving women, children, and families in need.
I’d like to invite you to learn about NCJW’s National Convention, Gateway to Our Future, which will be held at the Ritz-Carlton in St. Louis March 6–8, 2014.
The National Convention occurs once every three years, and here are three good reasons to consider attending: 1—Come support Pittsburgh’s own Christine Stone, who is being nominated to the position of assistant treasurer on the national board; 2—You will have an opportunity to serve as one of our nine Pittsburgh-based delegates, providing you the chance to vote on the national slate of officers and directors, bylaw amendments, and new resolutions; and 3—You will have the chance to hear from top-notch leaders and experts and interact with like-minded women who belong to NCJW sections from all over the US.
There is a cost associated with attending Convention; however NCJW, Inc. is offering two scholarship opportunities, and the deadline for applying is December 20th. Please visit www.ncjw.org/convention2014 for more information about the convention, including the scholarship application. Board President Paula Garret and I sincerely hope we will have a strong delegation from Pittsburgh at the convention. We’d love to have you join us!
Again, I wish you a wonderful holiday season and hope you are surrounded with love and peace as we approach the new year!
