Using a Somatic Approach to Stay Grounded During a Global Crisis

“We are somatic and empathic beings. When our bodies are shown or told that others are unsafe, we feel that in our system. Every time we open up our phones and see what cannot be unseen, our body is taking on the charge of that emotion. Several times a day it could mean facing a devastating reality that there is suffering and separation happening somewhere in the world, if not in our own lives.”

In this article, Davina MacKenzie shares some thoughts on how the heavy weight of all the pain and suffering in the world can impact us at a very visceral level, and a practice to “stay open, heart-centered, curious, and connected to ourselves” in order to move forward in choice and with intention.
